2007/2008
GigaBeam’s “Re-Invention” began in December 2007 with new leadership. At that time, several course corrections took place for GigaBeam. First, GigaBeam readopted the mentality of a start up company and began aggressively cutting costs and rationalizing the size of the business to match its current and potential market size. At the same time, GigaBeam improved support for and product quality of the Gi-CORE, while focusing sales on regional areas that were already performing: United States, Europe and the Middle East. GigaBeam turned its attention completely away from managed service, which it recognized it was undercapitalized to support, and instead expanded its product line.
By the end of 2008, GigaBeam had balanced its operations and spending practices to match the size of the 70/80 GHz market and had begun adding to its product portfolio to increase its market reach and in response to the voices of its customers. By the end of 2008, Gigabeam’s operating costs were cut nearly in half while bookings increased nearly twofold.
2009
In 2009, GigaBeam expanded its product portfolio further to include 5 separate product lines offering data payloads ranging from 10 to 1,000 Mb/s and covering spectra from 2 to 90 GHz. It added network design and implementation services and introduced the concept of a “True Private Network,” which could be custom designed to include any or all of GigaBeam products integrated to create a wireless network that could meet diverse needs from carrier class backhaul to access to the device. In addition, it overhauled its image and embarked on a re-branding effort that included a new logo, new product names and a new website.
